Garage Door Kits
Installing garage doors is not as simple as it seems, especially if you rely only on yourself. If you want to do it alone just because you want to avoid paying a professional, why not ask the help of one of your family members or friends?
Your difficulty in installing a new garage door will greatly depend upon your old garage door and your newly acquired garage door. It will, likewise, depend on the way you follow instructions. There are a few things that you need to consider before actually replacing your garage door by yourself, and here they are:
1. Leave the task of removing torsion springs to skilled workers
This is probably the most difficult task in replacing garage doors; you can hurt yourself if you choose to remove it without asking the help of a professional or a knowledgeable friend.
Putting torsion springs is also as difficult as removing them. There are those that are simple, while others are just too complicated to install. So, when buying garage doors, make sure to choose the one that have simple torsion springs. Again, hire a professional if you are not sure with the procedures.
2. Check the frame
Once you have successfully removed the old door, you have to check the frame and fix the damages if there are. However, if most parts of the frame are damaged, then you will have to buy another one.
3. Check the parts needed to assemble the tracks
This may not be necessary for garage doors that make use of hinges, only to garage doors that are folded towards the ceiling. Before you begin assembling the track, see to it that all parts are complete including the tools needed for the installation. It pays to carefully read the instructions.
4. Installation of rollers and brackets
After you are through assembling the tracks, the next thing to do is to put all the rollers and brackets onto the frame. These parts shall keep the tracks in a stable position – that is why you have to see to it that they are properly installed.
5. Installation of track hanger
After you’ve finished installing the rollers and brackets, you’re now ready to place the track hanger on the ceiling. You, again, would like to make sure that it is done perfectly as you can. This concludes the whole process of installing a new garage door.
